Ilana Silverstein is a founding ensemble member of force/collision and a founding bandmember of Tia Nina. She has been presented by the Philly Fringe Festival, Gaia in Washington DC, and the Source Festival. Her work challenges the contrasts between the elegant, the grotesque, the organic and the digital. She has performed with Dance Box Theater, Daniel Burkholder, Yoko K., and other artists in the D.C. area. Her work as both an artist and a community organizer has been funded by the Creative Communities Fund and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. As a resident artist at Georgetown Hospital, she guides patients through relaxing imagery and staff through short stretching breaks, applying dance in practical ways to enhance quality of life. Ilana also directs The Field/DC, providing artist workshops called Fieldwork for artists of all disciplines in the DC metro area. She holds a B.A. in Dance and Environmental studies from Denison University and is currently pursuing her MFA in Dance at the George Washington University.
